Alabama’s CollegeCounts 529 Fund partner donates $10,000 for tornado relief – 6/1/2011

MONTGOMERY – Union Bank and Trust Company (UBT) of Lincoln, Neb., is supporting tornado relief efforts in Alabama through a $10,000 contribution to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund. UBT administers Alabama’s CollegeCounts 529 Fund, which provides college savings investment options for those seeking to save money for children’s higher education expenses.

“We’re grateful to Union Bank and Trust for their generous contribution,” said State Treasurer Young Boozer. “Having seen firsthand the devastation caused by the April 27 tornadoes, this donation is needed and greatly appreciated.”

In addition to UBT’s contribution, several of the bank’s employees contributed to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund on an individual basis. “Union Bank’s employees have done what so many across the country have done in the wake of this tragedy,” Treasurer Boozer said. “They’ve stepped forward to help people who are hurting. And we thank our friends in Nebraska for that.”
